Winter Weather Policy

On a night when a Troop event (Troop Meeting, outing, etc) is scheduled to be held, and if Northborough Schools are closed due to snow or weather conditions, the event will be canceled.

If Northborough Schools are closed early or students are dismissed from school prior to the regular scheduled dismissal time, the event will be canceled.

If Northborough Schools are open and school schedules have not been modified due to weather conditions but late afternoon/early evening inclement weather conditions create very difficult or unsafe travel for youth to attend, then a joint decision between the ScoutMaster and Troop Committee Chairman (or their designee) will be made on whether to hold or cancel the meeting.

In the event of a decision to cancel the event:

  • An email will be sent out to the Troop's mailing lists.
  • This web site will have an announcement on the front page if the event has been cancelled.

We will try to let people know as early as reasonable of a cancellation. However, scheduled meetings should be considered as occurring unless communication canceling the meeting has been received.
